Housekeeping Assistant (Fixed Term Contract)

The Portland Hospital, London – Full Time, 37.5 hours/week. Shifts between 7am and 10pm, working 5 days out of 7, to include weekends. Fixed Term Contract until May 2027.

About the role

Our Hotel Services team plays a vital role in the day-to-day running of the hospital, ensuring that all patient rooms, clinical areas and shared spaces are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety and presentation. Working behind the scenes and on the front line, the team helps create a welcoming, calm and hygienic environment where patients can focus on their recovery and visitors feel reassured from the moment they arrive.

As a Housekeeping Assistant, you’ll be a key contributor to the overall patient experience, supporting both care delivery and hospital operations through your attention to detail and commitment to excellence. This is a hands-on, rewarding role where your work is immediately visible and genuinely valued, offering the opportunity to make a difference every single day.

Responsibilities

• Clean patient rooms, public areas and staff spaces, ensuring every area is safe, tidy and presentable
• Perform any tasks specifically assigned to you
• Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor or designee
• Attend mandatory training on an annual basis
• Maintain communal areas to be clean and tidy for visitors

Requirements

• Be aware of hygiene standards
• Be passionate about customer care
• Be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and healthcare staff
• Be able to work under pressure, and with a flexible approach
• Be comfortable working in a hospital environment and coming into contact with patients
