Cleaning Tasks

• Cleans occupied patient rooms
• Cleans unoccupied patient rooms (including disinfecting beds)
• Cleans ECG leads, blood pressure cuffs, IV poles, disinfects commode chairs
• Cleans & disinfects restrooms & fixtures
• Cleans nonpatient areas such as offices, corridors, lobbies, meeting rooms, elevators & waiting rooms
• Dry & wet mops floors
• Spot cleans walls, doors, ceiling, vents, & light fixtures
• Keeps trash cans in assigned areas pulled
• Takes trash to compactor, properly disposes of red bag waste
• Maintains paper towels & toilet tissue in assigned area
• Changes needle boxes when level is ¾ full or as requested
• Ensures cleaning bottles are pre-labeled properly for housekeeping carts
• Attends one in-service a year on the use of the trash compactor
• Fulfills universal protection requirements when cleaning
• Plays wet floor signs every 8 feet when mopping corridors
• Mounts drapes & cubicle drapery properly on tracks
• Cleans interior & exterior windows as assigned
• Cleans stairwells in assigned area
• Cleans & vacuums furniture in assigned area
• Maintains department equipment & storage areas
• Handles biohazard & infectious waste properly
• Performs room checks after discharge cleaning is completed
• Aids with use of germinator for isolation rooms & other areas requiring germination
• Completes work timely following checklists
