About the Role
A Housekeeper in an independent living, assisted living, or memory care facility is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for residents and staff. This includes cleaning resident rooms, common areas, restaurants, and administrative office areas.
Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
- Clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, etc., in resident rooms, recreational areas, and other spaces daily as instructed.
- Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures, ensuring watermarks are removed.
- Clean windows and mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways.
- Clean floors, including sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, etc.
- Clean carpets, including vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
- Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing.
- Remove dirt, dust, grease, and film from surfaces using proper cleaning and disinfecting solutions.
- Perform terminal cleaning procedures when a resident is discharged or transferred.
- Clean vacant rooms as assigned.
- Collect soiled linens and personal clothing daily from resident rooms and designated drop-off points, sorting items by fabric, color, and soil level.
- Operate commercial-grade washers and dryers following sanitation and thermal disinfection protocols, including proper measurement and dispensing of detergents, bleaches, and softeners.
- For memory care residents, ensure clothing is systematically labeled or tagged to prevent loss.
- Change and launder linens and clothing immediately if soiled or wet.
- Keep the laundry area clean, organized, and free of hazards; clean machine filters, drums, and surrounding surfaces regularly.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to facility management.
- Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles with plastic liners.
- Ensure work and assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored at all times.
- Maintain assigned work areas in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner.
- Follow established infection control and universal precautions practices.
- Coordinate routine and terminal isolation procedures with nursing care to eliminate pathogens and prevent infection spread.
- Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to your supervisor.
- Follow established fire safety policies and procedures.
- Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with sanitation procedures.
- Keep work areas free of hazardous objects such as protruding mop/broom handles or unnecessary equipment.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience with various cleaning methods and equipment.
- Ability to maintain a high level of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate with staff and follow instructions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members.
- 18 years or older.
- Prefer experience working in housekeeping in a medical facility.
- Maintain tactful composure and confidentiality with residents, family members, staff, and visitors.
- A genuine desire to improve the quality of life for seniors.

Pay
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour.
Schedule
Monday - Friday.
