About the role
Daily cleaning of patient rooms, discharge rooms, exam rooms, utility areas, corridors, stairways, and other hospital spaces. Sets up meeting rooms for various events. Distributes clean linen and removes soiled linen and trash throughout the facility.
Responsibilities
- Daily cleaning of patient rooms, discharge rooms, exam rooms, and utility areas
- Performs trash and soiled linen removal and distribution of clean linens throughout the hospital
- Cleans corridors, stairways, and other areas
- Sets up meeting rooms for various events

- Able to work around and clean up blood and body fluid spills
- Able to demonstrate correct cleaning procedures, use of chemicals, supplies, and equipment after training
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
- Training in customer service, fire and safety, corporate compliance, confidentiality, and infection control as required by regulatory and accreditation bodies
Physical & Mental Demands
- Floor to cart lifting up to 35 lbs. for storeroom supplies (e.g., cases of plastic trash liners)
- Lifting from floor to waist up to 35 lbs., including trash and linen removal; carry up to 125 ft.
- Pushing and pulling wheeled carts requiring a force of up to 200 lbs. over smooth surfaces, carpet, and ramps
- Squatting, bending at waist, twisting to reach under items for cleaning
- Standing or walking 65% of the work shift; standing up to 2/3 of the day and walking more than 1/3 of the day
- Uninterrupted lifting tasks lasting up to 10 minutes in duration
- Up/down one flight of stairs as needed throughout the hospital
Equipment Used
- Cleaning carts, vacuums, battery-operated floor scrubbers, and push carts
- Personal Protective Equipment: face masks, goggles, rubber gloves, protective aprons, and any required per policy and procedure
Environmental Conditions
- Occasionally works around blood and body fluids
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, compounds, and fumes/gases possible
- Medium dust conditions occasionally
- Intermittent exposure to slippery floors
