About the role

Responsible for keeping all areas of the facility neat and clean and ensuring all sorting and washing of garments, linens, and other items is completed daily.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner; provide staff with appropriate training, equipment, and supplies.
• Follow proper techniques when mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions used for cleaning and laundry, especially when handling potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or hazardous chemicals.
• Maintain established infection control and universal precautions practices during housekeeping and laundry functions.
• Coordinate routine and terminal isolation procedures with nursing services; perform isolation cleaning in accordance with infection control procedures.
• Make decisions that reflect knowledge and good judgment; seek assistance when needed.
• Adhere to dress code and facility attendance policy.
• Attend assigned committee meetings and report related updates during staff meetings.
• Take responsibility for professional growth by attending all scheduled training, educational, and orientation programs, including annual mandatory classes.
• Follow work schedules and complete assigned tasks according to facility standards.
• Review staff concerns promptly and communicate any issues to the Director of Facilities and Grounds.
• Work with the human resources department and Director of Facilities and Grounds to maintain established goals for employee turnover and retention.

Human Relations

• Demonstrate a positive working relationship with residents, visitors, and facility staff.
• Acknowledge authority and respond appropriately to supervisors’ directions.
• Spend time with residents rather than other personnel.
• Assist co-workers as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
• No prior experience required.
• Florida AHCA Clearinghouse background screening required.
