About the role
We are seeking a Housekeeper to join our team and help ensure our residents’ daily lives are supported with care and dignity. The Housekeeping Associate is responsible for keeping the community clean and safe for residents, families, team members, and visitors, including cleaning common areas and resident apartments, as well as handling laundry.
Responsibilities
- Collect, wash, dry, fold, and distribute resident laundry in a timely and organized manner
- Wash and maintain community linens, towels, and other laundry items
- Ensure laundry and storage areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety and infection control standards
- Communicate with residents and staff regarding laundry needs and preferences
- Clean resident apartments as assigned, including personal laundry, bed linens, and towels
- Clean all common areas, including halls, landings, stairs, activity areas, lobbies, elevators, model units, and public restrooms
- Clean vacant units as assigned
- Maintain housekeeping and laundry carts at all times
- Wash and dry all community laundry using appropriate products
- Follow the posted work schedule and arrive on time in appropriate work attire
- Follow all emergency procedures, including when chemicals are accidentally misused
- Understand and follow practices for proper handling of biohazardous waste
- Maintain a clean laundry room and store chemicals according to proper procedures
- Report on-the-job injuries to the Plant Operations Director/Business Office Director
- Communicate effectively with the Housekeeping Supervisor, Plant Operations Director, and other team members
- Advise Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Plant Operations Director when supplies need reordering
- Assist with light housekeeping duties (e.g., vacuuming, dusting, or sanitizing common areas) as needed
- Uphold resident dignity, privacy, and respect at all times
Requirements
- High School diploma preferred; GED accepted
- Previous experience in housekeeping or laundry preferred (senior living or healthcare environment a plus)
- Ability to operate and maintain commercial laundry equipment safely
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and demonstrate good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Physically able to bend, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 40-50 pounds if necessary
- Physically able to stand for extended periods of time
