Part-time, evening shift position focused on maintaining a clean and safe hospital environment.

About the Role

Provides a clean and safe environment for staff, visitors, and patients within the hospital. Enhances the facility’s appearance by maintaining a consistent floor care program.

Responsibilities

• Disinfect patient treatment, invasive care areas, staff, and visitor areas to maximize infection prevention, enhance patient safety, ensure EOC compliance, and improve visual appeal in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Perform collection, storage, and disposal of general medical, biohazard, pharmaceutical, chemotherapy, sharps, and soiled linen products from patient treatment areas following established policies and procedures.
• Clean remodeled or newly constructed areas to ensure they are ready for occupancy.
• Perform project work, including cubicle curtain changes, construction cleanup, floor refinishing, carpet cleaning, wall washing, refrigerator cleaning, and other assigned tasks.
• Prepare patient rooms, exam rooms, and patient support areas for new patients, including disinfection, bed making, floor care, and supplies replenishment.
• Interact verbally with patients and visitors to provide directions, hospital information, guest room services, and general hospitality.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding patient, visitor, and staff matters.
• Convey an attitude of acceptance, sensitivity, and caring toward patients, visitors, and staff.
• Maintain professional relationships and communicate relevant information to other healthcare team members.
• Initiate communication with peers about task priorities.
• Follow written and verbal instructions and communicate by telephone in English.
• Basic computer skills required: email (send/receive), mandatory education (e-learning), review schedules, policies, procedures, and employee engagement surveys.
• Ability to learn and maintain knowledge of chemicals used for cleaning and disinfecting (on-the-job training provided).
• Comply with hospital and department safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment when working around bloodborne pathogens, blood, and body fluids.
• Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
• Self-motivation preferred.
