About the Role
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the community’s clean, safe, and orderly condition while providing a pleasant environment for residents. This role requires adherence to federal, state, and local health and regulatory standards, as well as Viva Senior Living’s policies and procedures. The employee must demonstrate compassion and dignity toward residents and uphold the Resident Bill of Rights. In emergencies, the employee may be subject to call-back.
Responsibilities
- Daily dusting and waxing of furniture in assigned resident rooms.
- Daily vacuuming of assigned areas.
- Daily cleaning of bathrooms in assigned rooms, including sinks, tubs, and toilets.
- Replenish paper goods, toilet tissue, facial tissue, and soap in resident bathrooms.
- Empty wastebaskets in assigned rooms daily.
- Report any room conditions in need of repair (e.g., light bulbs) to maintenance.
- Dispose of unsealed food found in resident rooms.
- Check for unsecured throw rugs and extension cords.
- Maintain cleanliness of all resident rooms and public areas, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, buffing, floor care, furniture cleaning, and window cleaning.
- Daily cleaning of public bathrooms and emptying of trash receptacles.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
- Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, with exceptions for medical and religious accommodations.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Ability to see and hear (or use prosthetics) adequately to meet position requirements.
- Must meet general health requirements, including a medical and physical examination.
- Ability to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, or agitated residents.
- Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
- May be required to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergencies.
