Housekeeper

About the role

Full-time (40 hours/week) housekeeper position at our Valparaiso location. Hours are Monday through Friday from 1 pm–9:30 pm, with no weekends. Occasional travel to other Porter-Starke Services sites may be required.

Porter-Starke Services is a non-profit community health center with offices across Northwest Indiana, serving adults, families, adolescents, and children with mental health or substance abuse issues through individualized care plans.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, offices, and client rooms.
• Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors.
• Dust furniture and empty wastebaskets, transporting trash to disposal areas.
• Replenish bathroom supplies.
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies or blinds.
• Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels, and sills.
• Utilize proper safety, environmental, and infection-control procedures.
• Perform basic computer tasks and complete reports as requested.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• General understanding of housekeeping techniques as outlined in state and government regulations.
• Knowledge of chemicals and cleansers used in housekeeping.
• Familiarity with healthcare housekeeping procedures and techniques.

Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred. Experience in a nursing home or hospital setting is a plus.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to see, hear, stand, walk, reach, kneel, handle, push, pull, lift, or carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
