About the role

Gurwin Healthcare System is a full continuum of care providing extraordinary care and caring to the people that we serve. Set on a 36-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, and on-site dialysis and infusion therapy. Sharing the campus is Gurwin’s Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish : Fay J. Lindner Residences) which has 210 beds, our independent living community (Fountaingate Gardens) and Gurwin Certified and Licensed Home Care Services Agencies. Responsibilities

• Keep assigned areas of our Assisted Living Residences in a clean, sanitary, safe and orderly condition as directed by the Lead Housekeeper and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Clean and maintain resident apartments and common areas.
• Use floor machines and perform heavy lifting.
• Stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.

Requirements

• General cleaning knowledge and prior experience.
• Experience in a hospital, nursing home or assisted living strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of the dementia population and dealing with related behaviors.
• Understand written and oral instructions.
• Understand and absorb new work methods.
• Capable of completing schedules effectively and in a timely manner.

Schedule

• Rotating schedules.
• Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:15 p.m.
• Week 2: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:15 p.m.
