Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, residence halls, lounges, and common areas
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors, carpets, and surfaces
- Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners
- Refill supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
- Clean windows, mirrors, glass doors, and other surfaces
- Report maintenance issues (e.g., plumbing, lighting, or damage) to appropriate personnel
- Perform deep cleaning during academic breaks or as scheduled
- Maintain cleanliness in dining areas and event spaces before and after functions
- Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines
- Secure buildings and rooms after cleaning, as necessary
- Auxiliary tasks such as assisting with moving furniture or setting up spaces for events, meetings, or campus activities
- Support special projects such as summer turnover cleaning in residence halls
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 25–40 pounds
- Ability to step stools to reach high surfaces
- Repetitive motion tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and wiping
- Use of hands and arms to operate cleaning equipment and tools
- Comfortable working in a variety of environments (e.g., dorms, offices, restrooms, outdoor walkways)
- Must be able to perform tasks in both hot and cold conditions, depending on building and weather
