Housekeeper

Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108-bed psychiatric facility serving children, adolescents, and adults. About the role

We are seeking a qualified Full-time Housekeeper to join our team. Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, this role ensures all areas of the hospital are cleaned and maintained to meet hospital procedures and standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, and corridors in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner.
• Performs terminal/detailed cleaning of patient rooms to ensure a germ-free environment and enhance patient and employee safety.
• Completes work assignments in a timely manner using appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
• Uses and maintains equipment properly, including cleaning and maintaining carpet and tiled floors as needed.
• Assists visitors with directions and introduces self to patients, families, and visitors.
• Reports safety hazards and follows all infection control practices, including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions, and isolation precautions.
• Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal areas and replenishes cleaning supplies.
• Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties and works independently with normal supervision while adhering to safety precautions.
• Demonstrates the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and read/understand equipment operational instructions.
• Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives, maintaining a positive and supportive work environment.
• Attends to both patient and staff housekeeping needs in a courteous manner.
• Works day, evening, or night shifts as assigned, including every other weekend (8:00 AM–4:30 PM).
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of hospital environmental services/housekeeping experience preferred.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to determine appropriate course of action in complex situations.
• Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude.
• Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and prioritize scheduling of work.
• Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner.

Schedule

8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with every other weekend required.
