About the role
The Housekeeper, reporting to the Maintenance Director, maintains a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors by performing housekeeping and laundry services throughout the community. This role ensures resident apartments, common areas, restrooms, offices, and linens meet established standards and supports overall operations by restocking supplies, reporting repair needs, and collaborating with maintenance and other staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, laundry, and trash removal.
- Clean assigned areas (resident apartments, common areas, restrooms, offices) on a daily, weekly, and monthly schedule.
- Collect, launder, fold, sort, and distribute linens in accordance with health and hygiene policies.
- Report supply and equipment needs to the Supervisor and restock/replenish supplies as needed.
- Coordinate with maintenance to report necessary repairs noticed during the workday.
- Ensure effective communication among staff regarding residents’ care, including physical, personal, and emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with others, take direction from management, and engage in conflict intervention and resolution as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous housekeeping experience preferred.
- CPR or BLS certification preferred.
- Proficiency in digital tools such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), web-based platforms, electronic health record systems, and HR-related systems.
Working Conditions
- Walk or stand for extended periods and move throughout the community, including resident apartments and common areas.
- Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, or balance.
- Communicate effectively and interpret written information.
- Lift up to 50 pounds independently and up to 200 pounds with assistance.
- Follow infection prevention and control protocols, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
- Participate in staff activities to foster teamwork, unity, and morale.
- Stay current on training and ongoing education initiatives; pursue self-improvement and continuous learning.
