Responsibilities
- Receives assignments from supervisor and follows established cleaning schedules (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) as outlined for the housekeeping department.
- Thoroughly cleans assigned areas, furnishings, and fixtures according to established housekeeping procedures, including:
- Floors: dry mop, wet mop, sweep, wax, scrub, and disinfect as necessary.
- Moveable and stationary furnishings and fixtures: dust, spot clean, wash, disinfect, polish, change, wash, and dry linens, and remake beds.
- Ledges, shelves, vents, ashtrays, and waste baskets: empty, clean, and reline.
- Furniture: straighten or rearrange as directed; inspect for wear and defects and report to supervisor.
- Carpeting: vacuum, shampoo as directed.
- Bathrooms (resident, private, public): clean and disinfect all fixtures, floors, and walls; wash windows and mirrors; replenish supplies.
- Walls, windows, doors, and ceilings: spot clean between washing, disinfect when necessary; clean as scheduled.
- All horizontal surfaces: clean daily or as required, removing dust, dirt, or greasy film, using disinfectants when necessary.
- Performs emergency housekeeping where necessary.
- Cleans resident rooms according to established procedures when a resident has been discharged or transferred, preparing the room for new occupants.
- Interacts with co-workers, physicians, residents, and all other customers in a manner that encourages harmonious working relationships and promotes positive customer relations.
- Supports the facility’s mission statement through dependability in attendance, punctuality, maintaining confidentiality, timely completion of assignments, and adherence to professional ethics and quality service.
- Commits to professional and personal growth by developing skills and knowledge and improving the facility’s performance.
- Ensures the rights, dignity, and confidentiality of all residents are maintained.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- At least 6 months of general work experience.
