Position Summary

The Housekeeping Aide ensures that the facility is maintained in a clean and sanitary condition at all times to provide for the care and welfare of the residents in a healthful environment. In addition, the Housekeeping Aide ensures that good housekeeping services are performed in every department of the facility and are planned in cooperation with the department head.

Responsibilities

• Follow specific cleaning and service instructions as outlined by the Director of Environmental Services.
• Follow cleaning procedures in a safe manner.
• Complete all assignments scheduled in each unit.
• Give an assigned unit the attention needed to provide a sanitary, odor‑free, orderly environment for all concerns.
• Check stock and notify supervisor of supply needs.
• Maintain equipment in good working condition and return it to the proper location after use.
• Assist with room changes, as needed.
• Ensure that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individuals’ needs and rights.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent is preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, and understand the English language.
• Provide upon hire verification of a negative TB skin test.

Skills

• Good physical condition.
• Working knowledge of standard materials.
• Knowledge of techniques and equipment used in cleaning activities.
• Knowledge of cleaning materials and reasons for their use.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the outside public.

Additional Duties

• Interact with residents, families, visitors, and employees.
• Carry out other tasks as requested in situations where hands‑on intervention/participation may be required.
