Housekeeper

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize patient rooms, common areas, restrooms, and staff offices.
• Perform deep cleaning in high-touch areas, such as doorknobs, light switches, and handrails.
• Regularly wash windows, floors, and surfaces to ensure the facility is free of dirt, dust, and bacteria.
• Change bed linens and towels as needed, ensuring patient rooms are always tidy and prepared.
• Collect, sort, and wash linens, bedding, towels, and patient clothing.
• Ensure all laundry is washed, dried, and folded in a timely manner.
• Properly dispose of medical waste and other waste in accordance with facility protocols.
• Ensure that trash bins are emptied regularly, and that waste is appropriately sorted.
• Ensure that all cleaning equipment and chemicals are safely stored and properly used.
• Report any safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or areas requiring maintenance to supervisors.
• Avoid creating a stressful environment by being aware of the mental health needs of patients and responding sensitively.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred, especially in healthcare or psychiatric settings.
• Physical Demands: Full range of physical capabilities required, including the ability to handle and lift patients, demonstrate manual and finger dexterity, and maintain good eye-hand coordination. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally lift and carry items up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing within the normal range are also required.
