About the Role
Americare Senior Living is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Housekeeper to help maintain a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our residents, team members, and visitors. This role plays a vital part in resident satisfaction, safety, and quality of life. The position is full-time, 4 days per week, 1st shift, at our Centennial Pointe community in Springfield, IL.
What You'll Do
- Plan, organize, and follow assigned cleaning schedules
- Perform cleaning assignments in resident rooms and common areas
- Ensure compliance with cleanliness, sanitation, and infection control standards
- Prepare resident rooms for new move-ins following discharge
- Report maintenance and repair needs to the supervisor
- Monitor housekeeping inventory and communicate supply needs
- Assist with plant and flower care as assigned
- Safely handle cleaning chemicals and ensure proper labeling per OSHA standards
- Maintain work carts and equipment in a clean and safe condition
- Attend required in-service training and staff meetings
- Collaborate with other departments to support smooth daily operations
Requirements
- Grade school education required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, resident-centered environment
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Stand, sit, walk, and change positions frequently
- Lift up to 25 lbs. and assist with tasks requiring pushing or pulling up to 100 lbs.
- Crouch, kneel, balance, stoop, and bend as needed
- Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves and face protection
- Use proper lifting techniques and lumbar support when needed
- Wear non-slip, supportive footwear
- Follow OSHA standards for hazardous chemicals and SDS guidelines
- Report work-related injuries within 12 hours and complete required documentation
- Participate in company drug testing procedures
- This position operates primarily indoors in an Assisted Living community with adequate lighting and ventilation. Occasional interaction with residents during activities or events may occur.
