About the role
The Housekeeper’s primary responsibilities are to assist the Lead Housekeeper with routine cleaning and custodial care for assigned facilities, projects, coverage of special events, manage assigned teams for summer blitz cleaning of facilities, operate light and heavy janitorial equipment, and perform special cleaning projects as assigned. The role requires interaction with various staff members and the ability to remain flexible while working closely with other housekeeping staff, Facility Managers, and departments across campus to coordinate specific services as needed.
Responsibilities
- Maintain specified cleaning responsibilities in assigned buildings, including entrances, lobbies, offices, lounges, classrooms, study rooms, restrooms, stairwells, common residential areas, floor care, shower rooms, dining rooms, and auditoriums.
- Make independent decisions to accomplish day-to-day custodial tasks under the direction of the Lead Housekeeper.
- Apply knowledge of building services, related equipment, and best practices for sanitizing and disinfecting cleaning processes.
- Work overtime as directed by supervision when required.
Requirements
- Strong Christian commitment and adherence to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license.
