Summary of Position
The Housekeepers’ primary responsibilities are to assist the Lead Housekeeper with routine cleaning and custodial care for assigned facilities, projects, coverage of special events, management of assigned teams for summer blitz cleaning of facilities, operation of light and heavy janitorial equipment, and performance of special cleaning projects as assigned. They participate in training and development opportunities as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean entrances, lobbies, offices, lounges, classrooms, study rooms, restrooms, stairwells, common residential areas, floor care, shower rooms, dining rooms and auditoriums.
- Maintain specified cleaning responsibilities in assigned buildings, making independent decisions to accomplish day-to-day custodial tasks.
- Operate light and heavy janitorial equipment.
- Perform special cleaning projects as assigned.
- Participate in training and development opportunities as required.
- Work independently and as a team member on detailed day-to-day tasks.
- Interact with various staff members and fellow team members, remaining flexible while coordinating specific services with Facility Managers and departments across campus.
- May be required to work overtime as directed by supervision.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma.

- Ability to work independently and as a team member on detailed day-to-day tasks.
- Required Skills:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Excellent decision-making skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Education: High School Diploma.
- Experience: Required.
- Knowledge: Knowledge in the operations of building services, related equipment and tasks as well as “best practices” for sanitizing and disinfecting cleaning processes.
- Skills: Strong Christian commitment, adherence to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement, ability to lift 50 lbs, excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, excellent decision-making skills, valid driver's license.
