House Counsel II

As an insurance defense attorney within our bodily injury (BI) unit, you’ll be part of our motor vehicle insurance defense litigation team, providing legal representation to Progressive insureds and/or the Progressive Insurance Companies before courts and arbitration panels in all aspects of litigation.

Responsibilities

• Handle cases from beginning to end, including preparing legal pleadings, motions, statements, and trial briefs.
• Negotiate settlements and work closely with clients and claims partners to prepare timely reports on litigation.
• Ensure all appropriate defenses are leveraged to reach positive outcomes.
• Analyze written discovery, depositions, medical records, and assess the value of claims to determine risk exposure.

Requirements

• Juris doctor degree or Master of Laws (LLM).
• Minimum of two years general/auto litigation experience.
• Admitted to practice law in the state of Texas.
• Must reside within the state of Texas.
• Primarily remote position, but in-person attendance may be required for litigation-related events, occasional training sessions, and team meetings.

Pay

$133,697 - $146,900/year

• Gainshare annual cash incentive payment up to 40% of your eligible earnings based on company performance.
• Bonus of up to $15,000 payable after 90 calendar days of actively being employed at Progressive.
