About the role
Ascent Hospitality is looking for a uniquely qualified hospitality leader to join our team as a House Attendant. This role is responsible for maintaining guest floor and public space cleanliness, including fitness centers and meeting rooms. The House Attendant provides support to Room Attendants and may assist with Laundry Department needs, working under the direction of the Director/Manager of Housekeeping, Operations Managers, or General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Cleans, vacuums hallways, lobbies, corridors, elevators, and stairways.
- Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors using brooms, mops, and powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
- Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies using vacuum cleaners.
- Dusts furniture and equipment.
- Polishes metalwork, such as fixtures and fittings.
- Washes walls, ceilings, and woodwork.
- Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
- Maintains public area cleanliness, including restrooms.
- Empties wastebaskets and cleans ashtrays.
- Transports trash and waste to disposal areas.
- Stocks Room Attendant carts with linen and room supplies.
- Strips or removes dirty linen and transports it to the Laundry Room.
- Retrieves clean linens from the Laundry Room and properly stocks them on floors.
- Folds towels, sheets, and linens as needed.
- Stocks closets or storage areas with linens and supplies.
- Assists Room Attendants with heavy lifting and moving of furniture and equipment in guest rooms.
- Maintains storage area organization and cleanliness.
- May assist with maintenance and cleaning of the pool (as applicable).
- Ensures careful use of supplies issued for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Greets each guest with a pleasant acknowledgment.
- Uses guest names at all times upon entering an occupied room.
- Responds to customer needs for housekeeping supplies within 10 minutes.
- Displays proper organizational skills when stocking carts and timeliness in restocking.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to understand, read, write, and speak basic English and communicate with team members and guests.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple instructions.
- Ability to comply in standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work flexible shifts and holidays.
Qualifications
- Professional and energetic demeanor.
- High school education or equivalent is preferred.
- Four to six months of housekeeping experience or training preferred, but not required.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently required to walk, climb or balance, and talk or hear.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to push carts that weigh up to 200 pounds.
- Must be capable of effectively using close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
- Must be able to operate in mentally and physically stressful situations.
- Must be able to work with cleaning chemicals.
