Job Title: Hourly Driver Trainer FLSA Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Classification Group: Temporary (Hourly and Internships) Supervising Position: Transportation Operations Supervisor or designee Pay Plan: Temporary (Hourly and Internships) Pay Range: Hourly Wage Rate Last Updated: 07/13/2026 Pay Information Benefits Information JOB SUMMARY: Perform safe and efficient transportation of students on assigned routes. Train, evaluate, and develop bus drivers and bus assistants to maintain skills and service quality. Ensure compliance with transportation standards through instruction, performance monitoring, and documentation. Balance daily route driving with administrative duties, evaluations, and coordination to deliver consistent, safe student transportation services. Safely and efficiently operate a school bus over assigned routes while maintaining a high standard of student care and compliance with transportation regulations. Complete administrative and operational tasks during non-driving hours to support departmental efficiency and service continuity. Daily 50% 2. Conduct comprehensive annual pre-trip inspections and ride-along evaluations to ensure vehicle safety and driver readiness. Daily 10% 3. Assess and verify the functionality of special needs equipment through required annual testing and evaluations. Daily 10% 4. Deliver ongoing training, coaching, and performance assessments for bus drivers and bus assistants to reinforce safety, consistency, and professional growth. Daily 5% 5. Guide and mentor new bus driver and bus assistant trainees through structured route training and hands-on learning experiences. Daily 20% 6. Perform other duties as assigned or requested. Criminal background check and fingerprinting requiredHigh School Equivalency (HSE) diplomaTwo (2) years of school bus driving experience Colorado driver’s licenseCommercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with both a "P" (passenger) and "S" (school bus) endorsementCardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certificationMust be at least 21 years of ageMust meet insurability requirements of the Colorado School District Self-Insurance PoolMust pass Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Colorado Department of Education screeningsMust have a clear/clean Colorado Department of Motor Vehicle record within the past three (3) yearsWe cannot consider any application for bus drivers until we have an original of your Motor Vehicle Record dated within the past 30 days. We cannot consider any applicant whose license has been suspended/revoked within the past three years or who has had a probationary license for less than three years.
