About the Role
This position focuses on assisting customers in selecting and purchasing merchandise to meet established sales goals.
Responsibilities
- Maintains an acceptable sales quota as established in weekly, monthly, and annual store goals.
- Advises customers on quality, style, or value of home furnishings merchandise and assists in selecting appropriate items.
- Develops expertise in customer experience and sales execution to meet customer needs.
- Verifies prices and ensures each item is accounted for on sales orders.
- Calculates sales discounts and prepares sales write-ups.
- Prepares and/or places tags on merchandise, especially for sales promotions.
- Sets up advertising displays and arranges merchandise on counters and sales floor to promote sales; stocks shelves and other sales areas.
- Loads pick-ups as needed and obtains customer signatures on receipts.
- Resolves customer complaints regarding delivery of damaged or incorrect merchandise.
- Makes sales prospecting calls via telephone using telemarketing techniques; maintains accurate CRM records.
- Updates and maintains customer records and activity within the CRM system.
- Handles customer inquiries in person or via telephone.
- Attends scheduled sales meetings.
- Inspects and maintains assigned sales area for cleanliness and orderliness.
- Assists customers in completing credit applications and answers questions about company/store policies.
- Schedules delivery or pickup times with customers and documents appropriately.
- Composes and sends thank-you notes to customers.
- Keeps records of sales and processes documentation and reports as needed.
- Operates personal computers, calculators, copy machines, telephones, and other necessary equipment.
- Follows Display Standards, Customer Service Counter Standards, and Telephone Standards.
- Complies with Farmers Sales Floor Standards and engages customers using the S.W.I.N.G. program.
- Enters customer service issues in PQA as assigned.

- Assists in other store departments as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Six months of practical retail sales experience; or any combination of training, experience, and education that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

- Mathematical Aptitude: Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, calculate decimals, percentages, and interpret graphs.
- Functional Reasoning: Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagrammatic form, involving semi-routine standardized work with latitude for independent judgment.
- Situational Reasoning: Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in frequently changing situations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Physical Ability: Tasks require moderate physical effort, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting objects weighing 12-50 pounds.
- Sensory Requirements: Ability to perceive and discriminate colors, sounds, depth, and visual cues; ability to communicate orally.
- Environmental Factors: Exposure to dirt, dust, temperature extremes, electric currents, or toxic agents/chemicals may occur.
