About the role
As a Childcare Teacher in the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center (JCC) Hourly Childcare program, you will create a safe, warm, and engaging environment where children feel cared for and supported every day. Working closely with your classroom team, you’ll help run smooth daily routines, provide high-quality care and enrichment, and build positive, meaningful connections with the children, families, and community members we serve.
Responsibilities
- Directly supervise the children in your care and support the children and families.
- Ensure and promote the equitable, fair and consistent treatment of all staff members, parents, and children.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of your work.
- Provide a safe environment for all children by keeping them in sight and sound at all times.
- Participate in Hourly Childcare department meetings, trainings, and other aspects of professional growth provided by the JCC and other outside resources.
- Partner with the Hourly Childcare Coordinator to help develop and deliver a daily program for children that is founded upon the belief that children will be enriched by developmentally, individually, and culturally appropriate activities.
- Provide children with an emotional environment of acceptance in which children can grow with a positive self-concept.
- Establish and maintain a well-organized, safe, and healthy environment for children.
- Maintain a high level of customer service including handling difficult or emotional customer situations, responding promptly to customer needs, responding to requests for service or assistance, and meeting commitments.
- Perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team with other staff members, HRS JCC members, and community members.
- Ability to promote high standards of program delivery and professional excellence.
- Ability to articulate the influences of Judaic culture on our programs, operational decisions, and mission-based work; be sensitive to cultural differences; demonstrate flexibility and enthusiasm in work style; create a positive and harmonious workplace; effective time management; and understand individual leadership styles and its influence on the well-being of the staff.
- Ability to resolve conflict effectively and demonstrate maturity as well as the ability to get along with a variety of people.
- Demonstrated effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; customer-service orientation with specific strength in diplomacy and discretion strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be 17 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification for infants, children, and adults (will train on site as needed).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in childcare preferred.

Schedule
Hourly Childcare hours of operation are 7:45am - 11:15am Monday-Sunday.
