General Purpose
Our Hotel Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining the overall condition, safety, and functionality of the hotel by performing general maintenance and repairs in guestrooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. This role handles tasks related to electrical, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical systems while completing work orders and preventative maintenance on building equipment and rooms.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Inspect guestrooms, public spaces and back of the house areas to ensure good condition, attractive appearance, proper operation of equipment and all aspects of life safety.
- Perform duties requiring experience in using basic hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
- Kneel, stoop, grasp, lift, use ladders, climb stairs.
- Complete preventative maintenance on equipment, machinery, property finishes, and guestrooms.
- Administrative duties which include but are not limited to logbook entries, utility meter reading entries, operating equipment readings and verifying hotel activity, assisting with parts ordering.
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all department policies, procedures, and standards.
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
- Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests’ needs in a manner that best represents the hotel.
- Maintain positive guest relations at all times. Monitor and respond to all maintenance radio calls in a positive and professional manner and resolve all guests’ requests, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Maintain timelines and work schedule in accordance with the preventative maintenance program for both guestrooms and mechanical systems.
- Recommend energy saving and safety ideas.
- Monitor and complete all assigned work orders in a timely manner:
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- Kitchen Equipment
- Launderry Equipment
- Guestrooms
- Attend department meetings as required and participate in loss prevention and other safety programs.
- Clean walls, doors and woodwork as needed. Repair furniture and fixtures.
- Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years previous experience as a commercial building maintenance technician.
- State Boilers license or willing to obtain State Boilers license required.
- Must be able to work 2nd and/or 3rd shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- High School graduate or equivalent is required.
- Able to obtain certificate of completion of specialized training.
- Must have working knowledge of:
- Proper chemical handling, use and disposal;
- Equipment handling;
- Health Codes;
- Electrical Codes;
- National and local fire codes;
- Local Mechanical codes;
- Blueprints and wiring schematics;
- Power and hand tools, meters, etc. as it relates to technical trades.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Computer mathematic calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide).
Physical Environment
- Working environment-Engineering workshop, all areas of the hotel.
- Working on ladders, stepladders, stools and other high reach equipment.
- Job requires working in various temperature conditions and noise levels, indoor and outdoor setting and around fumes and/or hazard odors, dust and chemicals.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate equipment and tools.
Pay Range
$32.01 per hour
