ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Unload slabs from trucks.
- Unload and load grinders in bay.
- Unload and load slabs from Melt Shop Caster table and weigh each slab at caster scale in a timely manner to Melt Shop Stoppages.
- Pile scheduled campaigns for the Hot Rolling Mill.
- Prepare slab for grinding including weights and work codes.
- Visual check for defects on slabs.
- Help inspection with temperature in ferritic and hot charging.
- Stack slab bell covers and use as needed.
- Load/unload weight scale for grinders.
- Operator flip table.
- Check scales at grinder with test weight.
- Maintain 6S in the work area.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks as necessary.
SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Participation in relevant continuous improvement programs.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of High School Degree or Equivalent (GED).
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong communications skills.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Mobility in plant.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk.
- Frequent use of hands for technical tasks.
- Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
- Visual ability with or without correction.
- Communication abilities.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
- Follow Company safety rules.
- Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately.
- Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn: Safety shoes, Safety glasses, Hearing protection, Hard Hat.
- Some areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as: Respirators, Fire Retardant clothing, Acid PPE.
- Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy.
- Follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines.
- Follow all Environmental Policies and Regulations.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
