MAJOR JOB DUTIES
- Warmly and graciously greet all guests and seat them at tables or in waiting areas.
- Open the front door/ assist with elevator for guests entering or leaving the restaurant when possible.
- Manage and maximize the reservations seating software.
- Be able to problem solve any seating issues, dining room delays.
- Must be able to maximize all walk-in business in order to keep a full, balanced, maximized dining room and lounge.
- Assign guests to tables suitable for their needs and according to rotation so that servers receive an appropriate number of seatings.
- Locate waiting parties when tables become available.
- Speak with guests to ensure satisfaction with food and service, to respond to complaints, or to make conversation.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to inquiries or transfer calls.
- Receive and record guests' dining reservations.
- Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup.
- Inform guests of establishment specialties and features.
- Inspect restrooms for cleanliness and availability of supplies and clean restrooms when necessary.
- Direct guests to coatrooms and waiting areas such as lounges.
- Relay messages to management, chefs, servers and bussers as needed.
- Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement.
- Cook and serve food and beverages.
- Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests’ needs and support the operation of the restaurant.
- Fills-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
- Takes and prepares to-go orders.
- Supervises and coordinates activities of dining room staff to ensure that patrons receive prompt and courteous service.
- Maintains company-issue uniform in good condition and reports to work in authorized uniform as mandated by organization, including maintaining a clean and well-groomed appearance in compliance with departmental and company dress code standards.
- Maintains communication with management, including checking out at the end of shift.
Physical, Environmental & Other Requirements
- Constant contact with executives, department management applicants, coworkers and guests is necessary.
- Requires prolonged standing and mobility.
- Requires bending and reaching.
- Requires transporting, pushing, pulling and maneuvering items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Requires eye/hand coordination.
- Requires use of standard office equipment.
- Requires basic math.
- Able to push and/or pull file cabinet drawers weighing up to 5 lbs.
- Requires the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
- Communicate directly and telephonically with general public, management and read and write in English.
- Able and comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels and other instructions.
