Summary/Objective
Basic duties include greeting guests warmly, quoting wait times, seating guests, taking reservations, handling to-go orders, and answering guest inquiries. Hosts serve as the initial point of contact and are responsible for providing exceptional customer service.
Operations
- Knows all table numbers, seat positions, and server sections
- Works with other staff to keep the dining room clean and organized
- Greets every guest immediately with eye contact and a smile
- Accurately quotes wait times and keeps guests informed of progress
- Keeps the host stand neat and properly stocked with necessary items
- Performs restroom checks and ensures proper supplies are available
- Clears tables as needed and assists with other tasks as assigned
Work Environment
- Fast-paced restaurant setting
- May require standing, walking, and lifting up to 40 pounds
- Requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
Other Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Must communicate, write, and understand English
- Must have strong cash handling skills and be able to operate a cash register and POS system
- Must have a current Municipality of Anchorage Food Worker Card
Physical Requirements
- Required to stand for extended periods
- Frequent lifting up to 40 pounds
- Sometimes required to lift or move objects up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
