JOB SUMMARY
The Host greets and seats guests for food and beverage service, while maintaining the seating flow and service of the dining room.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets guests on arrival and regards on departure in a warm and inviting manner
- Maintains full knowledge of restaurant lay-out and seats patrons based off of specific layout
- Works with communication devices such as telephones, two-way radio, guest paging system, and both computerized and manual table management system
- Interacts with guests to maintain great guest relations and provide opportunities for loyalty
- Ensures and maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the host podium and ensures the dining room floor is presentable at all times
- Communicates to management in a timely fashion any guest compliments or complaints
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented and thorough with strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work under stress in a fast-paced environment
- Basic knowledge of menu items and service as well as restaurant operations and culinary terminology
- Basic knowledge of dining room standards and procedures
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Customer service or food & beverage experience preferred
- Must obtain valid gaming license, where applicable
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
- The employee is required to stand for the duration of the shift.
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, push, pull, lift, reach, twist, and bend while enduring prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- The employee may be required to exert up to 20 pounds of force.
- The employee may be required to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- The work environment may vary in levels of crowds, noise, and smoke, depending on the assigned station and customer volume.
