Host/ess (Part-Time)

About the role

Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel is seeking a part‑time Host/Hostess for ARIA, an artisanal American‑cuisine restaurant on the hotel’s second floor. As the first point of contact, you will set the tone for guests, escort them to their tables, and help create a modern, luxury experience infused with artistic flair in Milwaukee’s Theater District. The hotel is part of Marcus Hotels & Resorts, serving theater enthusiasts, food connoisseurs, and entertainment seekers.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests, check reservations, and log arrivals.
• Answer phones and manage voicemail.
• Escort guests to their table, provide menus, and introduce their server.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
• Handle reservations and arrangements for restaurant functions.
• Assist wait staff and bus staff as needed.
• Help with BEOs for private functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• No prior experience required; prior hospitality experience preferred.
• Afternoon/night availability.
• Ability to address customer complaints with empathy and provide proactive solutions.
• Proficiency in reading, speaking, and writing English to understand guest requests, memos, and reservations.
• Maintain a clean, organized environment.
• Ability to remember, recite, and promote a variety of menu items while multitasking.
• Comfort moving through a crowded room to seat guests.
• Experience with POS systems, OpenTable, and cash handling preferred.
• Willingness to work a varied schedule—including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays—and perform under pressure.

Pay

$16.00 – $17.00 per hour.
