Responsibilities
- Greet every guest in a friendly manner as they enter the restaurant
- Check the host podium for complete setup of materials and supplies at the start and end of the shift
- Clean menu covers, replace old or worn menus, and distribute them to bars and dining rooms
- Escort guests to requested and/or prearranged tables
- Aid servers with duties such as resetting tables or fulfilling guest requests
- Answer the phone promptly with a friendly and cordial greeting
- Communicate with customers and vendors, relay incoming calls to the appropriate people, and take messages
- Actively listen patiently and politely to customer inquiries and complaints, providing specific and accurate information about the restaurant operation, directions to the restaurant, and menu information
- Direct customer complaints and other problematical calls to the appropriate people; answer inquiries about reservations, review reservations, review reservation book, and inform customers about seating availability and accurately record reservations
- Prepare menus and reservations for the arrangement of tables and chairs for large parties
- Aid and direct personnel in the arrangement of tables and chairs for large parties
- Bid all departing parties a closing salutation and “Thank You”
- Inspect bathrooms; clean and restock bathrooms with supplies as needed
- Check back at tables to ensure customer satisfaction and to work on customer relations

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a similar position preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of food service operations and procedures
