About the role
The role of Interpretive Guide at Denali National Park & Preserve is to act as a personal interpreter of cultural, historical, natural resources, and support to guests on a guided tour.
Responsibilities
- Educate self on local ecology, geology, history and culture to provide information and answer guests' questions.
- Interpret in various settings such as walking tours, motorcoach rides, family-style vehicle tours, and multi-media presentations.
- Choreograph tours to educate and engage visitors of all ages and cultures.
- Adhere to cash handling policies and procedures.
- Ensure security of company assets and maintain a safe work environment through daily maintenance and housekeeping.
- Maintain excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by manager.
Requirements
- Sit, stand and walk for varied amounts of time.
- Basic math skills.
- Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 lbs.
- Available to work flexible hours.
Qualifications
- Native Alaskan.
Skills
- Knowledge of local ecology, geology, history and culture.
- Ability to interpret in various settings.
- Customer service and positive attitude.
