Serve as the Manager across guest experiences, driving planning and performance in three core areas: team management to foster engagement and excellence in hospitality, business growth to support brand strategy and annual targets, and operational management to ensure profit while delivering quality brand experiences for consumers, club members, and trade.
Responsibilities
- Personnel Management:
- Visionary leadership and management of hospitality staff and guest experience.
- Staff hiring, orientation, onboarding, and ongoing training curriculum management.
- Oversee annual training programming to deliver best-in-class consumer and trade experiences.
- Manage organization structure and efficient delegation of duties.
- Conduct ongoing performance discussions and evaluations based on hospitality, brand storytelling, wine knowledge, sales productivity, club conversion, company policies, and teamwork.
- Handle payroll and commissions calculations for full-time and part-time employees.
- Assess incentive programs for the direct sales team.
- Communicate safety topics, sales goals, pricing, product releases, and marketing promotions to staff daily, including sensitive information requiring confidentiality.
- Business & Experience Management:
- Ownership of annual sales plan and P&L targets.
- Lead and direct activities related to the Visitor Center, achieving hospitality and direct-to-consumer business priorities: guest experience, brand storytelling, consumer acquisition, club conversion, profit generation, event revenue targets, innovation, and employee satisfaction.
- Deliver business reviews with the management team and cross-functional partners as needed.
- Lead monthly financial reviews of business performance.
- Evaluate Visitor Center sales performance, identifying opportunities and risks.
- Ensure staff are trained as brand and wine experts to deliver unique brand stories and exceptional tasting/event experiences.
- Operational Management:
- Lead and enforce the Company’s sustainability policies, standards, training, and procedures.
- Manage daily business functions, including consistent opening and closing procedures.
- Support execution of marketing plans to increase visitors, spend per person, and convert visitors to loyal customers via programs like the Wine Club.
- Execute the codified operational model/playbook.
- Ensure POS system is accurately maintained and updated with inventory and transaction changes.
- Control and accurately manage on-site wine inventory.
- Maintain compliance with use permit, food & safety health codes, and responsible hosting requirements.
- Assist in the tasting room as needed to coach employees, observe operational efficiencies, and host guests.
- Monitor and respond to customer requests, suggestions, or complaints at the winery or on social media review outlets (e.g., Yelp, TripAdvisor).
- Plan and execute events for trade and consumers, ensuring high-level detail in wine selections, food pairings, entertainment, ambiance, and rental equipment.
- Serve as the creative lead for all events, managing budgets, staffing, expenditures, and proper expense coding.
- Leadership & People Management:
- Quantify business objectives, develop standards, communicate expectations, and appraise performance.
- Define leadership and functional competencies for staff; support development plans.
- Set clear expectations, provide constant feedback, and recognize individual and team achievements.
- Support team development through coaching and mentoring to help achieve goals and improve performance.
- Foster a results-driven environment through teamwork and demonstration of company values.
- Serve as a role model to all employees.
- Identify training programs in conjunction with HR.
- Provide mentoring and training to winery technical staff.
- Create a stimulating and rewarding work environment to enhance job satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Tourism, Recreation, or related field.
- 8-10 years of Tasting Room Management experience, including inventory and people management, preferably at a high-volume tasting room.
- Excellent hospitality, sales, and communication skills.
- Strong business acumen, P&L management, and ability to conduct financial analysis and track KPIs.
- Highly organized with the ability to multi-task.
- Leadership experience managing large teams (15+ people).
- Proven ability to effectively train, manage, and motivate staff.
- Basic to advanced knowledge of, and passion for, wine, including viticulture and winemaking.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify risks and opportunities.
- Bilingual (English and any other language) is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office programs, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Restaurant reservation and table management experience is a plus.
- Must be available to work Saturdays, Sundays, and some evenings for events.
Qualifications
Desirable: MBA preferred.
Working Conditions
- Regular schedule includes weekends and holidays.
- Long and irregular hours during peak seasons and special events.
- Moderate to heavy physical work, including moving wine cases and retail supplies, and setting up for special events.
- Work site may be at any Trinchero Family Estates’ facilities.
- Standing for long periods (8 hours per day).
- Carrying cases of wine to customers’ vehicles after purchase.
- Washing wine glasses and dishes to maintain a clean work environment.
- Ability to lift at least 45 pounds (case of wine).
Pay
Salary Range: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00. Starting pay is based on experience, training, education, and geographic location.
