About the role
Provide exceptional service to guests during events and functions at the Institute. This role ensures a welcoming and professional bar experience while maintaining cleanliness, safety, and compliance with all regulations. The Bartender also supports the front-of-house staff during high-volume periods or when no bars are scheduled.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standardized recipes.
- Provide excellent customer service by interacting with guests in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
- Accurately take and fulfill drink orders, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Set up and break down bar stations for events, including restocking supplies and cleaning equipment.
- Collaborate with event staff to ensure seamless service during conferences, banquets, and other functions.
- Monitor and manage bar inventory during events, notifying the Food and Beverage Manager of low stock or equipment needs.
- Verify guest identification to ensure legal drinking age compliance.
- Adhere to all state and local alcohol service regulations.
- Follow safety and sanitation procedures to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Process cash and card transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Maintain accurate records of sales, inventory usage, and tips.
- Assist the front-of-house waitstaff as needed.
Requirements
- Previous bartending experience in a hospitality, restaurant, or conference center setting.
- Knowledge of beverage recipes, techniques, and bar equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Positive, patient, team-minded attitude.
- High school diploma or GED; trade or technical school preferred.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods (up to 10 hours per day).
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in safe alcohol service (ServSafe Alcohol).
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
Pay
$15.00 – $17.00 per hour.
