Responsibilities

  • Serves meals to patients and visitors in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Serves as a point of contact for patients regarding meal and menu practices.
  • Obtains meal preferences and selections from patients, if applicable.
  • Replenishes floor stock items in nursing unit pantries and delivers enteral formulas for patients to nursing units.
  • Performs other tasks as related to patient meal service as assigned.
  • Adheres to safe food handling procedures.
  • Adheres to the Values in Practice initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • One (1) year experience in hospital or healthcare experience preferred
  • One (1) year experience in food service operation preferred
  • One (1) year experience in customer service preferred

Knowledge, Skill and Ability

  • Ability to read and write English: follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate
  • Ability to tell time and read a clock
  • Ability to perform basic Math functions
  • Good communication, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Must possess or have ability to learn basic computer skills

Working Conditions

  • Exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment
  • Exposed to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals
  • Subject to hazards of flammable, explosive gases
  • Subject to burns and cuts
  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
  • Exposed to hazards of steam and heat
  • Exposed to varying degrees of kitchen elements
  • Subject to standing and walking most of the workday
  • Extreme Cold: temperature cold enough to cause marked bodily discomfort
  • Extreme Heat: temperature hot enough to cause bodily discomfort
  • Moisture: frequent contact with water and other liquids
