Hospital Security Officer Supervisor (All Shifts Available)
Position Responsibilities
The Merit Security Supervisor provides direct, frontline supervision of security officers and executes day-to-day security operations within an assigned area. This role ensures effective patrol coverage, prompt response to routine incidents, and adherence to established policies and procedures.
Daily Operations
Manage routine calls for service and day-to-day security activity. Ensure appropriate and visible security coverage. Monitor patrol activity, response times, and officer performance. Adjust assignments within the shift to meet operational needs.
Incident Response
Serve as initial incident commander for routine and moderate incidents. Provide on-scene leadership and direct officer actions. Ensure de-escalation, safety, and control of incidents. Escalate high-risk, multi-unit, or unusual incidents to PVD1.
Documentation and Reporting
Review officer reports for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. Ensure required reports and documentation are submitted according to standards. Document significant shift events, staffing issues, and performance matters occurring during the shift.
Performance and Conduct Management
Provide day-to-day performance feedback. Document performance issues and positive performance. Recommend disciplinary action with supporting documentation. Assist with performance evaluations.
Investigations
Conduct initial fact-finding and routine investigations. Collect statements, basic evidence, and document findings. Transfer investigative ownership to PVD1 when incidents escalate beyond routine scope.
Staffing and Coverage
Implement staffing plans established by PVD1. Identify real-time coverage gaps within assigned areas. Notify PVD1 when additional resources are required.
Administrative Support
Respond to service requests and departmental concerns. Communicate trends, risks, and recurring issues to PVD1. Assist with onboarding and training as assigned. Ensure compliance with policies and standards.

- Incident Escalation Criteria
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- Five years' experience in security or law enforcement work, at least three years of which is at least comparable to the work of the Hospital Security Officer.
- Ability to obtain the Supervisor certification from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) within 6 months of hire and maintain certification for duration of employment.
Special Qualifications/Licenses
- Possession of appropriate driver's license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
- One to three years of supervisory experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency in computer software applications.
- Knowledge of security/law enforcement procedures.
- Experience in C-Cure, Perspective, and Victor.
- Trained in Crisis Intervention Techniques (CIT) procedures.
- CPR certified.
- MOAB Certified.
- Stop the Bleed Training certified.
- IAHSS certified.
