Hospital Pharmacist PRN
Job Summary
Working in a hospital system pharmacy outsourced to Cardinal Health, the Pharmacist II adjusts and dispenses medication to patients and drives the compliant and efficient operations of the pharmacy. The Pharmacist verifies physician orders using the pharmacy information system, makes adjustments according to protocols for a given medication, and provides patient education. This job also supervises Pharmacy Technicians and manages compliance tasks related to accreditation, narcotics control, and inventory management.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day pharmaceutical care and management of patients
- Interacts with patients, health care providers, clinics, and prescribers involved with the patient
- Review prescriptions prior to dispensing and verify all questionable prescriptions
- Ensure appropriate storage of products in the facility and compliance with all laws, regulations, and accrediting agencies standards
- IV Compounding
- Help establish departmental policies and procedures
- Maintain the required number of continuing education credits to maintain credentials as required by each state license
- Aid ancillary personnel with purchasing, inventory control and other duties
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Licensed, “good standing” pharmacist in the state of Texas required
- In-patient hospital pharmacy experience preferred
- Flexibility to work various shifts and on-call as needed
- IV experience preferred
- Ability to hear, write, and speak clearly in order to communicate with customers and health care professionals
- Strong customer service skills
- Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting and holding of small objects
- Computer savvy to learn and perform successful operation of multiple pharmacy information systems
- Vendor Credentialing may be required

Pay
The anticipated hourly range is $50.10 per hour - $71.70 per hour.
