About the role

The Nursing Education Specialist (NES) plays a crucial role in the Emergency Department, coordinating orientation and delivering specialized training to nursing team members, preceptors, and charge RNs. They also support the development of policies, procedures, and competencies, and facilitate the evaluation of new products, equipment, and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate orientation and ongoing education for nursing team members, preceptors, and charge RNs.
  • Deliver training and education specific to population-based staff across various educational opportunities.
  • Facilitate on-going staff development and support policy, procedure, order set, work standard, and competency development.
  • Coordinate the evaluation of new products, equipment, and/or technology in partnership with the Nursing Practice team and Value Analysis Team.
  • Participate in departmental policy and procedure development, implementation, and interpretation for members of the healthcare team.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nursing, health sciences, or education (completed or enrolled).
  • If enrolled, must show continuous progress towards degree completion.
  • Active RN licensure in MN or WI required at time of hire. Must obtain licensure in the other state within 3 months of hire.
  • Current CPR certification (American Heart BLS for Healthcare Providers).
  • Minimum of 3 years (6,240 hours) experience in area of clinical specialty.
  • Experience in leadership roles, research utilization, staff development, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Experience as a preceptor/Charge RN and continuing clinical education.

Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching.
  • Membership in specialty professional organization.
  • Certification in Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC) and/or area of nursing specialty recognized by national certification body.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in adult learning principles and techniques.
