About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Hospital Maintenance Mechanic to join our Lubbock Heart team. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in building maintenance with skills in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, boilers, chillers, pumps, domestic water systems, and mechanical work. Hospital environment experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes job assignments in a timely manner.
  • Performs mechanical jobs in an efficient manner (appliance repair, bed repair, pump repair, etc.).
  • Performs electrical jobs in an efficient manner (light switch replacement, plug replacement, preliminary distribution system troubleshooting, light fixture repair, equipment repair, etc.).
  • Performs general building maintenance repairs in an efficient manner (door hardware, ceiling tile windows, painting, etc.).
  • Performs plumbing jobs in an efficient manner (faucet repair, commode repair, unstops drains and sewers, medical gas outlet repair, etc.).
  • Performs preventive maintenance procedures in an efficient manner (greases motors and bearings, cleans/changes filters, checks equipment for loose or missing parts, electrical safety checks, etc.).
  • Completes all documentation in an efficient manner as required.
  • Participates as a member of the fire response team.
  • Keeps work areas clean and orderly; cleans up after jobs are completed.
  • Inspects the building when in route to perform service calls and reports problems to the Plant Operations office as a service request.
  • Tags all equipment as to ownership and state of repair, as appropriate.
  • Orders repair parts in a timely manner.
  • Fulfills safety requirements.
  • Able to adapt to changes in workloads and demonstrate flexibility when faced with interruptions.
  • Performs work in an accurate and timely manner in crisis and emergency situations when time is of the essence.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to perform assignments outside the scope of the job classification.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years working experience in building maintenance with skills which include plumbing, electrical, HVAC, boilers, chillers, pumps, domestic water systems, and mechanical work experience.
  • Hospital environment experience preferred.
  • A valid Texas Driver’s License with no driving while intoxicated (DWI) convictions or any other factors which would preclude insurability is required.
  • A High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Familiar with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, boilers, chillers, pumps, domestic water systems, mechanical repair and general building maintenance techniques.

Shift

Your shift is Full Time with on-call.

Company Information

Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital specializes in the care of cardiac, orthopedic, nephrology, urology, and general medical patients. We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic, orthopedic, urology, and general surgery. We have a 24-hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms, 4 fully operating OR rooms, 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room, 11-day surgery rooms, 58 acute care beds spread over three units, and 16 cardiac critical care rooms.
