Hospital Lab Supervisor- Microbiology

Responsibilities

• Schedules and supervises non-exempt lab personnel on multiple shifts.
• Oversees staff and activities of the department.
• Determines priorities and schedules non-routine procedures.
• Performs personnel-related functions such as hiring, terminations, discipline, training, etc.
• Performs advanced/specialized tests and other related laboratory techniques.
• Duplicates work of others to confirm test results.
• Re-evaluates methodology, makes recommended changes, and assists in test interpretation.
• Determines if further testing should be done on samples or if tests should be repeated.
• Checks/approves all specialized and problem reports for accuracy.
• Initiates quality-control measures and monitors quality of work for adherence to laboratory standards.
• Performs duties of technologist as necessitated by absence or peak workload.
• Completes special projects as requested, such as surveys, statistical reports, studies, research, etc.

Qualifications

• Required: 5+ years’ experience in laboratory environment.
• Physical and Mental Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
• Knowledge: Knowledge of the general laboratory services and testing requirements.
• Skills: Ability to work with hospital and laboratory personnel, communicate effectively, manage multiple engagements, and interact with clients.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology (MT preferred).

About the Role

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Hospital Lab Supervisor in Neptune, NJ, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with rotational weekends. The role is hospital-based at Jersey Shore and responsibilities include overseeing staff, scheduling, and performing advanced laboratory tasks. Requirements

Market and organizational factors are considered when determining salary offers, which range from $84,040 to $151,360 per year. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonuses.
