HOSPITAL CARE AIDE (SITTER)

About the Role

A Hospital Care Aide (Sitter) is a paraprofessional employee trained to provide supervision, companionship, and environmental support assistance. Reports changes in patient condition and any safety issues to unit staff immediately. Serves clients of all ages with diverse diagnoses.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the patient to provide optimum safety and accident prevention.
• Receives information hand-off from nursing staff and never leaves the patient unattended.
• Under direction of hospital unit staff, assists nurses with personal care tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Bathing, oral hygiene, hair and nail care, skin care, lotion and massage.
  • Elimination, dressing, positioning, transfers, and ambulation.
• Engages in appropriate and meaningful conversation with patients and family members.
• Escorts patients as directed by nursing staff.
• Communicates changes in patient’s condition accurately, completely, and timely to the nurse.
• Adheres to policies, procedures, and scheduling assignments; remains flexible with scheduling hours and calls for additional assignments.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Serves as a brand ambassador by upholding the organization’s mission, vision, and values, promoting excellence in the patient experience during every encounter.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience necessary.
