About the role
As a Registered Nurse (RN), Hospice, the work you do every day makes a difference in the lives of our patients. Our nurses give our patients the greatest gift – the ability to spend enhanced quality time with their loved ones in their preferred environment. You will have the opportunity to provide one-on-one patient care and work at the top of your license. You will utilize your clinical skills in providing end-of-life care as directed by an attending physician. You'll be part of an interdisciplinary team that focuses on providing compassionate quality care to our patients.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the overall care of the patient from beginning to end of life.
- Observe and monitor the patient to determine if the level of care being provided meets the patients’ needs.
- Work autonomously and be responsible for all practices and duties within the scope of practice outlined by the state.
- Plan of Care: Evaluate the treatment and medical condition of the patient according to the plan of care. Individualize the plan of care and make adjustments as needs change.
- Minimize Patient Risk: Update all doctor orders in patient chart and administer medication as prescribed by the physician.
- Continuity of Care: Manage multi-disciplinary care as applicable while promoting continuity of care with appropriate admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Family Educator/Advocate: Counsel patient and family on the disease/progression and incorporate patient and family in development of plan of care. Listen to patient and family members.
- Policies: Complete all clinical documentation following agency protocol and Medicare/Federal guidelines.
- Operations: Oversee and supervise total care of patient provided by nurse aides and LPNs. Attend in-service training and mandatory agency meetings.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current license in the state of employment.
- Minimum one-year experience as an RN in an acute care setting is preferred.
- Hospice experience is desired.
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance in your name as a driver.
- Capable of all physical demands.

Schedule
Three (3) 12-hour shifts per week | Every 3rd weekend rotation
Location: Redcrest Hospice House in Bloomington, Indiana
