About the Role
Volunteers are a valuable part of our hospice team, providing comfort and compassion to patients and their families. Your time would be an enormously meaningful gift, and we welcome whatever time you can share.
Provide companionship, socialization, and support in a home and/or facility setting. Examples may include:
- Empathetic listening and engaging in conversation
- Reading aloud or playing/listening to music
- Taking walks or watching sports/favorite shows
- Playing games or writing letters
- Participating in group activities with other residents
- Simply sitting and providing a reassuring presence
Note: Volunteers do not provide physical aid or medical treatment of any kind.
Schedule
Hospice volunteering offers flexible hours depending on your availability. Some commit to several hours per week, while others contribute just a few hours per month.
Requirements and Training
- Must be 18+ years of age
- Complete initial onboarding paperwork, training, fingerprinting, and TB testing
- Continued support provided after onboarding
