Hospice Certified Nursing Assistant - Hospice Aide

About the role

We are seeking full-time Hospice Aides and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients in Shelby, Jefferson, and Saint Clair Counties. The ideal candidate will have active CNA licensure, current CPR certification, and six months of direct patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care to terminally ill patients
• Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, and toileting
• Support safe mobility, including use of walkers and wheelchairs
• Help with meal preparation, feeding, and light housekeeping
• Observe and report changes in the patient’s physical or mental condition
• Offer emotional and psychological support to patients and families
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of visits
• Attend team meetings and participate in Quality Improvement (QI) activities
• Practice infection control and follow safety protocols at all times

Requirements

• Active CNA license in the state of employment
• Current CPR certification
• Driver’s license and reliable vehicle with insurance
• Six (6) months of direct patient care experience
• Comfortable working in home settings, hospice facilities, or long-term care environments
• Compassionate, patient, and able to handle emotional situations
• Willingness to work independently and adapt to changing patient needs

Qualifications

• Passionate about making a difference in end-of-life care
• Experience in home health, hospice, palliative care, or oncology preferred
• Background in hospital nursing, ICU, geriatrics, med-surg, ER, telemetry, or nursing homes
• Exposure to end-of-life care, wound care, or admissions support
