About the role

Bring comfort, dignity, and compassionate care to patients during life's most meaningful moments. As a Hospice Aide/Homemaker, you'll provide hands-on support that helps patients maintain their quality of life while remaining in the place they call home. Through assistance with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, oral hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility, you'll help ensure each patient receives the care, comfort, and respect they deserve.

This role is ideal for a caring professional who finds purpose in building meaningful connections and serving others with empathy and compassion. You'll develop trusting relationships with patients and families while working closely with nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to support each patient's unique needs.

Every visit is an opportunity to provide reassurance, preserve dignity, and make a lasting impact during an important stage of the patient's journey.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support to patients in their homes, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes
  • Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, oral hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility
  • Develop trusting relationships with patients and families
  • Work closely with nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to support each patient's unique needs
  • Preserve dignity and provide comfort to patients at the end of life

Requirements

  • Completed a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training
  • Must hold current certification as a nurse aide and be in good standing on the state nurse aide registry
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and valid automobile insurance coverage

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Hospice Aide, Home Health Aide, or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred

Skills

  • Ability to read and write in English and follow written and verbal instructions in English effectively
  • Understanding of hospice philosophy
  • Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision
  • Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail, and the impaired
