This position is responsible for the operation of equipment to produce rubber hose, including roles such as 2-spiral cover operators, wash cover operator, 4-spiral and 2-spiral tube operators, and wash tube operators.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor extruders and braider decks to produce rubber tube and cover, making adjustments to correct for speed and temperature.
- Load bobbins of yarn on braider decks and balance for operation.
- Operate braider decks to wrap yarn over the tube to reinforce the hose.
- Utilize computer systems to access specifications, enter quality data, and print specifications.
- Use drops, calipers, thickness gauges, and OD tapes to measure product and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Foster professionalism with all associates, internal and external customers.
- Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures to eliminate risk to health and the environment; report unsafe conditions, unlawful activities, or risks immediately.
- Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately.
Department-Specific / Non-Essential Functions
- Participate in peer-based teams (e.g., Natural High Performance Teams) and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
- Participate on project teams, star point teams, and kaizen events as needed.
- Attend and participate in all required training opportunities to develop in the role.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in manufacturing preferred.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to operate material handling equipment and use overhead hoists.
- Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures.
- Frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting.
- Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.
Assessment
Employee must successfully complete pre-employment screening.
Organizational Relationships
- Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader.
- Work closely with other departments to resolve issues with processes and equipment.
Working Conditions
- High noise levels from operating machines and equipment.
- Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels.
- Exposure to nuisance fumes.
- Work in areas requiring safety equipment (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, high visibility clothing).
- Standing required for extended periods; regular walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting.
