Horticulturist
About the role
At John M. Corcoran & Company, the Horticulturist role operates across a residential property portfolio in Massachusetts, Northern Rhode Island, and Southern New Hampshire, moving between sites as needed. No two weeks are identical—you might prune mature shrubs and assess irrigation coverage at a Massachusetts garden‑style community one morning, and the next be setting railroad ties or coordinating with an outside contractor on a landscaping project in New Hampshire. You apply a working knowledge of soil, plant health, and seasonal timing to each visit, exercising autonomy grounded in genuine expertise. Over time you develop portfolio‑scale judgment about how plant selection, maintenance timing, and irrigation choices affect the long‑condition of shared outdoor spaces, a skill that transfers to landscape management or facilities coordination roles. JMC has operated in New England real estate since 1951 and retains employees over long careers, reflecting well‑structured operations and a culture that treats skilled tradespeople as professionals.
