Responsibilities

• Bioswale maintenance, that can include separation and removal of proper vegetation.
• Propagation, irrigation, and pest management of plants.
• Control plant growth regulation through mixing and testing fertilizers and monitor any injectors that are being utilized.
• Manage scheduling for timing of appropriate planting.
• Operate equipment such as trucks, tractors, and sprayers.
• Responsible for maintaining required knowledge of established garden plants and understanding the cultural requirements to maintain their growth and cultivation.
• Perform and support horticultural practices that facilitate plant health through understanding soil nutrition, sustainable gardening, and integrated pest management.
• Turf and lawn maintenance.

Requirements

• Knowledge of ground maintenance and lawn care equipment.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education is beneficial but not required.
• An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in horticulture, botany, or natural sciences degree, or at least 5 years of related experience and/or training.
• Certification of a Pesticide Applicator’s License is preferred.

Skills

• Expertise in plant care and maintenance.
• Ability to operate various types of equipment.
• Understanding of soil nutrition, sustainable gardening, and integrated pest management.
