Horticulture Plant Propagation Internship
About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Horticulture Plant Propagation Intern to join our team at the new Bridge Thrift Center. The ideal candidate will assist in propagating house plants that will be sold at our center, contributing to our mission of sustainability and community enrichment.
Responsibilities
- Assisting in the propagation of various house plants from cuttings, seeds, and other methods.
- Maintaining plant health, including watering, fertilizing, and pest management.
- Preparing plants for sale, including potting, labeling, and pricing.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area, including the plant nursery.
- Assisting customers with plant-related inquiries and providing excellent customer service.
- Participating in educational workshops and events related to horticulture and plant care.
- Collaborating with team members to ensure the success of plant propagation projects.
Requirements
- Must possess passion for the mission of The Bridge Teen Center.
- Basic knowledge of plant care and propagation techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Passion for plants and sustainable practices.
- Previous experience in horticulture, gardening, or a related field.
- Creativity in plant display and arrangement.
- Familiarity with a variety of house plants and their specific care requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including both writing and verbal.
- Personal and professional integrity.
- Clear and creative thinking.
- Strong organizational skills.
- The ability to lift more than 15 to 20 pounds.
- A sense of humor.
