Job Description
NoCCCD is now accepting applications for Horticulture Instructors at Fullerton College!
Primary Purpose
The primary purpose of this position is to teach horticulture courses at Fullerton College.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of horticulture principles and practices
- Ability to effectively communicate with students and colleagues
- Ability to develop and deliver engaging lesson plans
- Ability to assess student learning outcomes
Special Requirements
- Valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff
- Commitment to diversity
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher AND two years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment
- Any associate degree AND six years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment
- Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area
- The equivalent
Desirable Qualifications
- Expertise in culturally responsive teaching in horticulture, particularly as it relates to the relevance of horticulture to the student’s lives, interest, and communities
- Demonstrate ability to address equity gaps of racially minoritized groups within horticulture
Working Conditions
Salary Range: $1572.67 - $1725.85 per lecture unit rate, $1572.67 - $1725.85 per lab parity unit rate, $1258.16 - $1380.60 per lab unit rate
Special Instructions
- This recruitment will remain active for a period of one year, from the position opening date.
- If there is no longer a need to fill, the position may be closed sooner, and applicants will be notified.
- This is a continuous recruitment to fill part-time, and temporary faculty assignments on an as-needed basis.
- When the need to fill arises, the department will refer to this pool of part-time faculty.
